SWIM Australia™ Teacher Course
SISSS00132 – Swimming and Water Safety Teacher
Our entry-level course, the SWIM Australia™ Teacher (SAT), has the competence and knowledge to teach swimming and water safety to independent learners from ages 2.5 years upward, emphasising safety, fun, and skill development.
The skill set SISSS00132 – Swimming and Water Safety Teacher provides the skills and knowledge required to assist individuals in gaining the competencies required to deliver water-related personal safety and survival lessons as determined by the federal government.
Upon completing all the course requirements, candidates will be accredited with the SWIM Australia™ Teacher license, valid for three years. The course includes vocational education training requirements and non-accredited training requirements in line with the Aquatic Industry. This is the industry standard for Teachers of Swimming and Water Safety.
This course is aimed at people entering the aquatics and community recreation industry, wishing to instruct swimming and water safety and the entry point into Sport, Aquatics and Recreation industry.
SWIM Australia™ Teacher of Babies & Toddlers Course
SISCAQU027 – Promote development of infants and toddlers in
an aquatic environment
The SWIM Australia™ Teacher of Babies & Toddlers (SAT B&T) will give you the competence and knowledge to plan and deliver lessons for infants and toddlers over four months of age and up to four years using activities, games and toys to promote personal development and motor and cognitive skills.
Upon successful completion of SISCAQU027 Promote development of infants and toddlers in an aquatic environment, individuals will be able to complement their SWIM Australia™ Teacher competencies and expand their scope of delivery
This course is designed to foster water confidence in children by engaging them in a variety of safe and enjoyable aquatic activities. Through play, exploration, and encouragement, participants will develop fundamental swimming and water safety skills in this course.
All enrolled SWIM Australia™ course students are covered by SWIM Insurance for the duration of their course and will receive complimentary SWIM Graduate Membership and complimentary $0 Excess Teacher Insurance upon being accredited*.
SWIM Australia™ Teacher of Learners with Disability
SISCAQU028 – Assist participants with a
disability during aquatic activities
The SWIM Australia™ Teacher of Learners with Disability program offers an incredible opportunity to enhance your SWIM Australia™ Teacher certification and develop the skills needed to cater to learners with disabilities. By completing this program, you’ll gain the expertise to recognise the unique requirements of each participant and ensure their safe entry and exit from the water. You’ll also learn how to provide tailored support during aquatic activities based on their individual needs and preferences. This program will complement your existing SWIM Australia™ Teacher skills and expand your range of teaching abilities, making you a more engaged and inclusive teacher.
All enrolled SWIM Australia™ course students are covered by SWIM Insurance for the duration of their course.
SWIM Australia™ Foundation Coach
SISSSWM001 – Coach Swimmers up to a competitive level & SISSSCO005 – Continuously improve coaching skills and knowledge
The SISSSWM001 & SISSSCO005 – SWIM Australia™ Foundation Coach (SAFC) (formerly known as SWIM Australia™ Teacher of Competitive Swimming) will be competent to deliver basic swimming squad sessions that develop the swimming technique of novice Swimmers – this is generally defined as Swimmers who are recent “Learn to Swim” Graduates and are in the likes of a “mini squad” and still acquiring the skills needed to transition into competition.
This Course is endorsed by the peak sporting body in Australia for swimming – Swimming Australia – as the entry level course for the swimming coaching accreditation pathway.
Teachers who hold the SAFC qualification are eligible to undertake the Swimming Australia Development Coach (previously Bronze) course. Holding current Swimming Australia coach accreditation is the minimum requirement for coaching competitive squads within swimming clubs or other facilities and to be able to coach on pool deck at swim meets.
All enrolled SWIM Australia™ course students are covered by SWIM Insurance for the duration of their course and will receive complimentary Graduate SWIM Membership and Insurance for the length of accreditation (3 years), upon being accredited*
